BULLARD PRESENTATION UPSETS CHAIRMAN The Robesonian didn't publish my earlier article on Too Little, Too Late. Perhaps if it had been published, some of the members of the Robeson County Board of Education would have recognized that (l) they failed to monitor the expenditure of funds; (2) they failed to actively get involved in budget preparation; (3) they obviously did not respect the responsibility and recommendations of school principals as to priorities, and (4) they ended up fighting over nothing because all the money had been spent. Admittedly, protocol would call for representatives of overlapping districts or even contiguous districts to show the courtesy to announce that members will be in their respective areas. And yes, it is a matter of professional ethics. But more important, several members voiced concerns about the inequity in expenditures, and regardless of their district, their race, or their responsibility, they should be working hard now to see that an equitable budget is prepared for future expenditures and hold the administration accountable to respect and respond to identified needs and to prioritize them accordingly. To do otherwise is, as has been accused, pure politics!
