The MLK, Jr.Scholars Program is an 8 week summer internship (June 30 - August 5) established to commemorate the legacy of Dr. King's human rights achievements. Appointments may be exended up to an additional 4 weeks on a case-by-case basis. Pay ranges from $11.82 - $20.04/hour depending upon the intern's federal clasification. Interns will be responsible for financing their own transportation and housing while in DC, however, a list of possible housing and contact information for scholars who might be looking for roommates will be provided. Interns will be assigned to the Office of the Secretary and the immediate office of the assistant secretaries. Each student will have the opportunity to contribute to and engage in a variety of important projects, education programs, and initiatives, policy analysis and development, and legal training designed to prepare students for a possible career in government and public policy. The scholarfs program is open to continuing undergraduate juniors and seniors and graduate students at any level. Students must be currently enrolled, in any discipline, with plans to register for the ensuing semester. All applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.3 and submit recent academic transcripts, along with 2 academic references.
