Let me agree wholeheartedly with Ms. Vernon. Not only do we need to make sure our youth are able to "get in" but I believe very strongly that our communities need to INSIST that our children are properly prepared to compete with other students. Many are. But I can name dozens of youth who had to take remedial classes once they were accepted into colleges both in and out of state. Something about that doesn't make sense. It's far too easy for colleges and universities to attract our youth with grants and scholarships and let that be the end of it. Let's work hard to ensure that we are as proud of graduation rates as we are of acceptance letters. That's a job for all who have and care for Indian youth.
