This is an on-line discussion board for Education.
The education discussion board will provide an opportunity to share information between and among tribes, organizations, individuals and communities.
Education has historically been a priority for the Lumbee and other American Indian tribes. From early history we have valued knowledge and wisdom from our elders and as we have learned from others, we realize how important it is to build upon our history in order to preserve our past and our future.
The education discussion board will welcome ideas and suggestions for improving education for our children and increasing educational opportunities for higher education for our young people.
We share the national tragedy of continuing high numbers of American Indian student dropping out of school affecting the productivity and livelihood of these young people and their future families. Continuing attempts to dismantle affirmative action that has not always served American Indians well, but has at least opened some doors, will significantly impact the current decline of American Indians entering higher education.
Finally, the education discussion board welcomes input and ideas that can help guide educational policy and research at all levels.
