Mr. Locklear, I mean no disrespect, but I think you are living in an ILLUSION. I personally do not support Ms. Woods. And now I will tell you exactly why. First of all, I have not heard any comments from Ms. Woods on her stance concerning support for Lumbees outside of Robeson County (aka The Territory). Yeah, you can say that it is Robeson and surrounding counties, but lets be for real, it is mainly Robeson. Perhaps some of the troubles the tribe is facing is the fact that they don’t want to listen to people outside of that area and they want to do things “their way”. That I agree is ludicrous! Besides Mr. Locklear, you are outside the area like myself, YOU HAVE NO SAY in what goes on. Mr. Locklear, the mismanagement of HUD money dates much further back than the existence of the Tribal Council. It has only recently been brought to light due to tarnished egos who have finally lost control of something they never really had. And if you don’t know who I am talking about let me be more clear, LRDA. That’s right. How many hundreds of thousands of dollars have flowed through Robeson county over the past thirty years where many of the people who should have benefited from it, never saw a dime. And LRDA was suppose to invest in the future of our kids! Again, our people fall pray to the age-old adage of the “Indian Crickets”. And speaking of “Indian Crickets”, Ms. Woods, what makes you think that bashing the Tribal Council and it’s leadership, including the TRIBAL ADMINISTRATOR, can bring any resolution to the issues our people are facing today. We as a tribe finally have a real shot at being federally recognized after years of trying and all you can do is bad mouth those in the leadership roles. If you were really for the tribe, shouldn’t you be supporting some part of this endeavor? I can’t believe that everything the council and its LEADERSHIP have done is 100% wrong. Besides, we are closer to recognition than we’ve ever been. I look forward to hearing some positive comments from your forum. Thank you for the opportunity to respond. Lumbee of Raleigh
