BINGO, Wendy! You have articulated what some of us have been trying to say for a LONG time. Accountability is the responsibility of all, including the LEADERSHIP, or lack thereof, of the council, chairman, and even us, as members of the Lumbee Tribe. Although I will publicly acknowledge I support Ms. Jacobs, it is clear to say that this problem is much deeper than a "Darlene issue." The real issue stems from how things were handled. A violation in the constitution occured by Chairman Goins in terminating her contract. Additionally, the grounds for which the chairman terminated her contract, via conversations with some tribal members and statements to others, have no real revelance to her. Shame on the leadership of the Chairman and shame on us if we do not DEMAND the leadership of the tribe to uphold the constitution in its full integrity.
