I am deeply concerned with Ruth's comments and accusations on this website. I too was involved with the District 14 meetings when discussions were taking place concerning the Tribal Constitution. Ms. Darlene in no way influenced my decision to vote for or against the constitution. Ms. Ruth, I’m sorry but the people of the Raleigh area, formerly known as District 14, are educated people with the ability to comprehend and reason just like you. When we read the constitution we picked up on some of its flaws quickly. And as Gwen has stated, we documented a list of concerns and sent them back to the Tribal Council for review. I’m tired of the finger pointing that has taken place over the past three years, since the formation of the Tribal Council. You and many others like you continue to ridicule the people of Raleigh. Why? Simply because we are involved and we want what is right for our Lumbee people. Ruth, I’m glad you finally admitted to your involvement with the recent situation the tribe had with HUD. You said yourself, in this message board, that YOU CALLED HUD in October of 2003, and I quote “I did take it upon myself to contact HUD officials who advised me in October that problems under scrutiny and investigation occurred after I left the agency in December 2002.” Ruth Dial Woods. Were you acting on behalf of the Tribe? Is it your place to perform such a noble task? If I remember correctly, your term as Tribal administrator officially ended in December 2002? So why have you personally taken on the task of setting up road blocks for Federal Recognition? At least reading your comments on this website and in the Robesonian makes me believe that you do not want to see the Lumbee Tribe receive recognition under the current administration. Can you please elaborate on your motives? As for Ms. Darlene Jacobs, I will continue to support her efforts as I have done from day one of her run for Tribal Council. As a Tribal Council member she kept us informed of the issues facing the council and voted the way she felt here constituents in the Raleigh area would want her to vote. I believe in this lady and will continue to support her efforts. I have one final comment. Please ask your website visitors to stop running up the votes against Darlene Jacobs in your online poll. The question is, “Do you think that the new Chairman Jimmy Goins should have fired the Tribal Administrator Darlene Jacobs? I recorded several nights ago the following counts; Website Visitor Count = 5400, Yes votes = 76 votes, No votes = 150. The current totals for today stand as; Website Visitor Count = 5823, Yes Votes = 872, No Votes = 472. If only 423 people visited in this time frame, how did she receive almost 800 votes saying she should have been fired? You do the math! If you are planning to post online polls, please let them reflect the PEOPLE’S response and not your on beliefs!!!!!
